When hiring a consultant the key points to consider are:
1) Experience - Of which there is no substitute
The staff of Can-Am Technologies have a wide range of education
from degrees in computer adult education, technical writing, software testing
and hardware technician to degrees in business management. They have over 40
combined years in business experience in such diverse fields as management,
employee training in management, software and marketing, bookkeeping,
guerilla marketing, security, web site design & management and we also have a
computer computer hardware technician on board.
Our staff also has a combined total of over
12 years in hands on, storage facility specific management, marketing and employee customer
service training. In short, we are very knowledgeable of what
the practicalities are of the self storage business.
2) Compatibility - The client and consultant need to have common
ground, enabling them to understand one another, and the ability to work well
together.
We are unique in two aspects:
First, we are
Pacific Northwest based, so we not only know the business climate, we intimately know the
market. At the same time, we have handled contracts with small business owners
and self storage owners in
British Columbia and as far away as Georgia and Hawaii. Having worked
with clients in
such diverse areas, we have a good working knowledge of business communities across the
United States and western Canada. In the case of the self storage industry, we have been able to see & experience first
hand how different mixes of unit configurations, ancillary services, security
systems, marketing approaches, etc. have affected our customers bottom line. What works? What doesn't
work? WHERE do some things work and others not? This is the sort of knowledge we
have been able to gain through experience and observation.
Second, before forming Can-Am Technologies,
our primary consultant worked as a software tester and a customer support
technician for the makers of one of the leading self storage software
applications in the world. What significance does this have for you? It means
that when we recommend or suggest you NOT use a program we have taken that
program in house, tested it thoroughly for stability, accuracy, dependability
and user friendliness. We base our recommendations on what works, not who will
pay us the highest commission!
